Epidermal growth factor receptor predictive of lower response to radiotherapy.

2003 FEB 4 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- According to a study from Spain, "epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expression is observed in 50%-70% of colorectal carcinomas and is associated with poor prognosis. The aim of this study was to determine the EGFR expression rate in locally advanced rectal cancer and to analyze whether EGFR expression predicts tumor response to preoperative radiotherapy."
